Backend Software Engineer (Python/Django)

As a member of ixlayer’s engineering team, we want you to bring experience building real products to automate, accelerate, and simplify the process of launching precision health products. We intend for ixlayer to be the operating system for health ecosystem: works out of the out-of-box for many consumers and physicians, with a robust set of APIs to enable customers to extend the default functionality.

What You Will Be Doing

Working alongside other developers to build business logic and features to add to the existing backend application. Optimize the existing stack and software. Work on designing and implementing REST APIs into the platform. Develop APIs that handle health information as well as retrieving data from mobile devices.

We’re looking for someone with:

• Backend architecture experience experience with Python
• Experience with Django & Django REST framework 
• Experience with a SQL-based database such as MySQL
• Experience creating and implementing REST APIs
• Proficiency in Git

What is nice to have for this position:

• Experience with Celery is a plus
• Shopify experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with Shopify app development experience
  • Experience with Shopify API
• Experience working with 3rd party APIs (Shopify, 23andme, Fitbit)
• Experience with AWS / Cloud Hosting is a big plus
• Experience with TDD and ability to write quality unit tests
